Taxel Lodge, Whaley Bridge

The footpath from Taxal to Reddish Lane passes Taxal Lodge which stands vandalized and sadly neglected. Having seen the building I am curious about its history as I can find very little on the internet. Up until its closure in 2005 it was a special school in various guises for Stockport Education Authority. Apart from rumours about past pupils the place seems a bit of a mystery.
